How to Make Candle Centerpieces

You can purchase expensive candle centerpieces at a gift store or you can use a little creativity and imagination to make your own candle at home. Basically, all you need to create candle pieces is a candle and materials such as ribbons, flowers, gemstones, shells, branches or any other item that suits your theme or occasion.

Perhaps the most common occasion that calls for candle centerpieces is the wedding dinner. A white or silver pillar candle placed on a doily and surrounded by silver foiled wrapped Hershey’s kisses is a nice idea for wedding centerpieces and best of all, the guests can eat the centerpieces afterwards. Another nice idea is to place the candle on a pocket mirror and surround it with ivy and strings of faux pearls. Orchids and flower petals are other popular flowers used to surround candle centerpieces at wedding.

Fragrant jars of soy candles add atmosphere and fragrance to bridal and baby showers. These jars can also be placed on doilies or wrapped with blue or pink ribbon.

Beautiful candle centerpieces can be made for Christmas simply by arranging holly or boughs of evergreen around a red or green candle. Those in the Christian tradition will be familiar with the evergreen bough decorated with advent candles that are lit every Sunday until Christmas. Christmas candles can also be placed in candle holders that can be buried in faux snow or decorated with globe-shaped Christmas decorations.

The classic Halloween candle centerpiece is simply an orange, white or black candle that is placed inside a small hollowed out pumpkin, gourd or squash. Creative candle centerpieces for Halloween candle centerpieces also be created by placing a candle inside a hollowed out plastic skull or placing the candle behind a Halloween mask.

Romantic candle centerpieces can also be made to celebrate Valentine’s day. Placing red or pink votive candles or pillar candles in a bed or roses or orchids make lovely candle centerpieces. Candles can also be surrounded by Hershey’s kissed or foil wrapped chocolates that pick up the glimmer from the flame of the candle. Scratching your initials of you and your loved one into the candle wax is also a nice touch.

Gel candles are colorful and sheer flakes that can be placed in cocktail or martini glasses and used as centerpieces for a casual get together. Objects such as shells, gemstones and other tokens can also be placed inside a gel candle. You can also make floating candle center pieces by filling any nice glass or bowl with water and floating candles in water.

If you have an event and are really stuck for an idea for candle center pieces all you really need to do is buy candles and flame retardant ribbons that suit your color scheme. Tie the ribbon around the base of the candles and then make them a nest in a bed of flowers or foliage. That is the simplest method of creating candle centerpieces to add pizzazz to any party or occasion.
